Box Office Battle: “Despicable Me” wins weekend with another $44.7M

Comcast (CMCSA) subsidiary Universal’s “Despicable Me 4” stayed at top of the domestic box office with another $44.7M as it crossed the $200M mark for a North American tally of $211.1M. Overseas, DM4 earned $88M for a foreign cume of $226.7M and $437.8M globally. Gru and the mischievous Minions sport an A CinemaScore.

BOX OFFICE RUNNER-UPS: The serial killer chiller “Longlegs” placed number 2 with a $22.6M debut. Behind it was Disney (DIS) and Pixar’s “Inside Out 2” with another $20.7M from 3,815 locations as it finished Sunday with a global tally of $1.35B. Paramount’s (PARA) “A Quiet Place: Day One” placed number 4 with an estimated $11.8M for a domestic cume of $116.2M. Rounding out the top five, Apple Original Films’ (AAPL) – distributed by Sony (SONY) – romantic comedy starring Scarlett Johansson and Channing Tatum “Fly Me to the Moon” opened to $10M from 3,356 theaters.
